I downloaded some temporary files on my computer. I have spyware and virus protection. I am getting (cont.) ?

alerts even though everything has been scanned and is virus free and spyware free. I am hesitant about downloading a program that is being offered because the last time I downloaded a program it was malware which i was told was a form of spyware Any suggestions?.
