Because it's a civil matter that you have to take to small claims court to prove it's not true and that what has been said has in fact damaged your life...If the person slandering is found to be false they will have to pay you a ton of money. It's like that in every state. Make police reports to have on record. Call an attorney that takes care of small claims cases and civil matters, they will discuss what you need to do over the phone. If you want this fixed you're going to have to leave the house....
