Why do a lot of thinner men go for bigger ladies?

Just out of curiousity. My Dad has always been thin and my Mom is a heavier person. They've had a great marriage for over 30 years. It always has had me curious. ..you will see a bigger girl and the skinniest dude (maybe skinny guys have the biggest hearts!).
